Not all our members are race hardened compeditors with the majority enjoying cruising up and down (and sometimes around) the Thames as a social and recreational activity.
For current and prospective members we host a variety of sailing opportunities, which get published in the Newsletter and the Sailing Updates Group on WhatsApp.
- Sundowners – Evening sailing opportunities alternate Fridays during the summer months starting at 6pm. Check the website calendar for dates as sometimes tides are not favourabe. We organise with Safety boat coverage for dignhy sailers and our club bar is usually open afterwards.
For prospective members and visitors we operate a booking system so that we can ensure we have someone to buddy up with you on a club boat. Visitors are welcome to bring their dinghy along to attend a sundowner session. - Buddy sailing in the club sailing area – Buddy Sailing is sailing without safety boat cover and is for the more experienced sailors at the Club. Depending on numbers you may be able to get out with one of them if they are looking for crew.
- Trips up and down the river – Club members organsie regular trips to Greenhithe to the pub for lunch and a sail back
- Members Adult Sail Training (MAST)
Run at the same time as the JYS sessions on Sunday afternoons and listed in our sailing calendar. MAST is designed to allow members who haven’t yet completed an RYA Level 1 & Level 2 Dinghy Sailing course to book a sailing session with another club member and get out on the water in a club boat.
Our clubhouse bar, kitchen and event facilities compliment our social sailing providing the opportunity to meet other members, plan, organise and discuss upcoming and recent sailing activities.
