During November, December, January and February the club organises monthly Work Sundays. These are not only a good excuse for a social get together but also a chance to undertake some of the regular maintenance and improvement activities around the club when sailing activity is a bit more subdued.
These Sunday morning events are usually held on the first Sunday morning of the month and undertake a range of tasks identified by club members.
Work Sundays start at 9am and finish by 1pm.
The most important part of the morning is of course tea at around 11am. After a morning of productive teamwork it is usually followed by a hearty lunch produced in the Clubhouse Galley and the opening of the club bar.
Temperatures can be cold and some activities do involve work outside around the club grounds so warm sturdy clothing and some gloves and a hat are useful.
We encourage all members to come to Work Sundays not only because of the opportunity to complete tasks quickly and easily with our combined effort but also because of opportunity to discuss and organise sailing in the upcoming months.
Its also a good opportunity to finalise membership renewals and to confirm and tag boats and equipment kept at the club. Visitors and people thinking about sailing are more than welcome on Work Sundays.
