Who can hire a boat
Any member or prospective member that has completed a Level 2 Dinghy course can hire and helm a boat.
On dual handed dinghies (Dinghies big enought to fit two or more people such as Bosun, Keels) any other member or prospective member can crew with a helm on a boat regardless of whether they have completed a Level 2 course. Crewing is at the discretion of the helm.
Each person is responsible for payment of their boat hire.

Picos, Toppers
Laser Keel Boats – Can only be hired during club organised events such as Sundowners and MAST
Fees
Boat hire fees are £10 per person per day and should be paid in advance
Process
Select the boat you will be hiring
Complete the form in the Red Folder kept at the Clubhouse Reception including:
- Your name
- Boat being hired
- Who is helming the boat
Pay your hire fee in cash or card to the event organiser or to the bar or by bank transfer prior to using the boat
Bank details
- Account Name
- Account Number
- Reference: Hire <YOUR LAST NAME> YOUR FIRST INITIAL DDMM
Record your payment on the hire sheet
Identify any issues with the boat emailing sailingsecretary@erithyachtclub.org.uk with details and/or photos prior to use.
Returning the boat
Return the boat to its assigned space
Roll up and put alway sails, tillers, rudders, oars, bailers and any other equipment not attached to the boat – Sails should be returned to the sail loft, rudders, oars and bailers to the sailing kit shed
Note any incidents or issues in an email to sailingsecretary@erithyachtclub.org.uk with details and/or photos
Cover and tie down the boat
Return any borrowed boyancy aids, helmets, spray jackets and overalls to the sailing kit shed
