Designed for the Royal Navy our fleet of dual handed Bosuns are available for hire by Club members who have completed a RYA Level 2 Dinghy course. The boats are tough, sturdy but also more sensitive to the wind. They provide a great opportunity to sail with other club members and refine your skills after a training course in a Stratos Keel boat or Single handed dinghy.
The boats provide ample opportunity for club members to get out on the river with other members, prospective members and visitors for both social sailing activities or racing. They are great boats to improve your helming and crewing skills.
Hire fees are £10 per person per day payable on the day
Opportunites to head out on Bosuns are often organised informally on our WhatApp discussion groups, at the club on the day for buddy sailing or during organised Sundowner or MAST sailing sessions.
Our Bosuns often travel further up and down the river on daytrips with two, three and sometimes four aboard.
Designed to be robust, forgiving to new sailors mishaps and easy to repair the maintenance of our Bosuns is undertaken by club members. Regular users of the boats are encouraged to learn some of the skills involved in their upkeep so the club retains the ability to operate these boats at relatively low cost.
Members may ‘adopt a bosun’.
