Club Regatta – Saturday

Club members got to the club nice and early to prepare two of our ribs for duty out on the water as Safety Boats while others rigged dinghies and prepared their cruisers ahead of a race briefing at 11am.

We actively encourage our members across all experience levels to participate via different race classes so truly everyone can enjoy the occasion so our Race officer prepared two dinghy courses for those new to sailing and with more experienced under their belt.

Single handers, double handers and yachts were all out on the water vying for trophies. Many of those who took part had never raced before.

The first day of our 124th annual Open Regatta Weekend had a fantastic collection of boats racing unfortunately we were a little short of wind with racing start delayed until 1pm. Racing was abandoned as the waters of the river stayed glassy flat and racers fought the tide to make way around the course.

Later on the evening we farewelled our past Hon. Secretary Jeremy Mitchell who is off to take up a new job in Hong Kong. Our bar stayed open late with members past and present joining in to wish Jeremy best of luck while we enjoyed a fantastic offering of food prepared by vounteers in our catering kitchen.
