Busy weekend with JYS, Member sailing and new inter-club racing at Greenhithe with Thurrock Yacht Club & Gravesend Sailing Club

The club is busy with preparations for sailing tomorrow as regular JYS Youth and Member Adult Sailing take place. The bar will be open with yacht owners and sailors will be sitting down for some Buoyant Banter later in the afternoon.

At the same time members in four dinghies including Lasers and the Club Drascombe are heading down river to Greenhithe to take part in  a new inter-club racing event on the Thames.

Hosted by Thurrock Yacht Club the racing will take place near Greenhithe between 2pm and 4pm. We expect at least 12 dinghies to be taking part.

To get there, club members will leave from Erith in the morning. A safety boat will be heading down the river with them. Thurrock are kindly organising a lunch at the Pier Hotel at the top of the slipway.

This particular day has been chosen to allow both EYC and Gravesend Sailing Club to take account of the tides in order to get back to their respective clubs. EYC will be leaving at 4pm and sailing home and GSC to start their return journey at 6pm.

Our MAST and JYS sessions will be staying local at the club with members crewing a second Safety boat to provide support of those sailing our single handed dinghies and anyone else out on the water at the club.
