Wow – what a day at Erith Yacht Club. With nearly perfect wind and lots of sun we had four young adults who had never stepped on a boat before all out sailing on club Toppers and Pico’s.Combining JYS Youth Sailing, MAST – Member Sailing and Try Sailing for those completely new to sailing we were pretty busy!
Our members were at the clubhouse helping meet, greet, kit up, launch, recover and provide some advice and instruction where needed. We also had members out on the water in two of our Safety boats, including Erith 1 as well as our club dinghies providing support and encouragement as people tried out sailing on their own or with the support of a club member.
We may have also managed to sign up some new members. So if you did join or become a prospective member today – welcome. Please do register on the website and we’ll get you access to everything you need to get sailing at the club.
Of course we also spotted some bits that will need to repaired and improved on some of the boats. We also managed collect a little money for the club and it will certainly help get the parts we need to keep the boats in good condition.
Our team in the bar were certainly busy later in the afternoon. A very big thank you to all the members that volunteered and welcome, or welcome back to those new and returning that came along. Of course the sailing continues with a evening MAST session this Wednesday and our regular Sundowner on Friday – Check our calendar for more details.
