A fisherman without access to a boat who became trapped by the tide was rescued from the Thames foreshore mud in the vicinity of Erith Yacht Club yesterday morning 22 July.
Utilising knowledge practice for such situations gained from training sessions around Erith Yacht Club such as Operation Mudlark – Crews from RNLI Gravesend, London Fire Brigade Erith and Plumstead fire stations as well the London Ambulance Service who used the club as a base to access the river, bring the man ashore and provide treatment on the scene.
According to local media reports the alert was raised following calls to HM Coastguard around 10am yesterday and he was bought back to safety at the club around midday.
