Piper Cup

Sorry for the delay to this report and the results - life got in the way.

Sunday 10 April was a blustery but sunny day with a strong tide.  The new Committee Boat was on trials having been launched the day before.

The course was a simple windward/leeward course to try to take into account the tide and variety of dinghies on the water.

The tide caught out a number of the racers, who stayed too far out into the river, instead of hugging the moorings.  The downwind leg was full of excitement for Ed and Paul in the Laser, as the photos show of them planing down to the leeward mark.

The two laser radials had a battle, but ultimately, Rosie managed to pull away and beat Tom….next time Tom!!  The omega suffered gear failure when their reef unravelled itself, so they were towed in.  However, I think they had a good time while it lasted!

Thank you to Paul, Colin and Jo for acting as race officers and to Jeremy and Leigh for covering safety.
