Refresher Training - Saturday 1 February 2020

Calling all Instructors, PB drivers/crew and other volunteers who help out with EYC's RYA training courses. We are running a refresher day to prepare for the new season.  The club's Senior Instructors (Sailing and Power) will be running sessions for you. It is an opportunity to also ask any questions you may have.

I would be grateful if some members could come down to act as students too, so if you can get down for 11 and be ready we should get you on the water in a RIB or (later) in dinghies.

The programme is below:

930am - briefing from me about the day and paperwork to be completed (JM)
10am - PB drivers and skippers to go to prepare the RIBs with Hugh & Alan or James, ensuring that all checks are done before launching.
10am - DIs to be reminded of The Method (Paul R/Ed)
1045 - break (all)
1110 - PB crew/skippers on the water training - towing, MOB, manoeuvres, &c... (HO'B, AT, JH)
1110 - DIs doing land drills (PR/ES/JM)
1200 - lunch
1pm - Rig and launch dinghies for on-water teaching sessions
130pm - launch and undertake sessions on the water (all)
3pm off the water, pack up,
345pm - debrief
Please be prepared to re-read the Standard Operating Procedures and sign that you understand and have read them.
Cheers.  Jeremy.

****NOW OPEN***

Thames Trafalgar Race, jointly run by The Little Ship Club and Erith Yacht Club, is open to all yacht sailors from around the UK. Entries are limited in number so make sure you book early to reserve your place and get your crew together.

This race is a great competitive race, promoting the corinthian spirit of amateur and gentlemanly (and gentlewomanly) racing. We hope that as many as possible of Erith yacht owners will participate - so we can win the most entries cup as well as the winner cups in each class!!

There is a large dinner at EYC on the Saturday evening where we host all the other competitors and generally make merry and have fun - or repair spinnakers at 1am before the race the next day!!

Booking forms are at this link:

This is an open invitation to all sailing/yacht clubs in the area.

NELSON RACE - 29 & 30 September 2018

Come along for some cruiser racing on the best part of the Thames for racing and sailing.

Saturday Briefing - 10am at EYC Clubhouse

Race Start and course - to be announced on the day

Saturday Social - Our past Vice Commodore and general polymath (Mick Kemp) is there with his band in the evening, so come along to support him, dance the night away and explain why you did not come first (unless you did and you can brag!).

Sunday Briefing - to be announced on Saturday

We had an amazing, if rather hot, drift down to Greenhithe in good company with cruisers, drascombes and Hamble Stars. Fuller report and a selection of photographs are on the Club Facebook page.

Thank you Ed for organising the day for us all.
